Operations and Programs Manager

Position Overview

Community Movement Builders seeks to hire an Operations and Program Manager, who can lead/support the organization in creating standard operation and administrative procedures. Community Movement Builders is a grassroots organization that is rooted in community organizing and base building within the Black community to bring about sustainable and self-determining communities.

This position will fill a variety of organizational needs to create and maintain standard operational procedures that support reliable ways to track organizational information, build membership and organizational growth. The work will also include at times project and property management.  This work requires a background with databases, budgets, project management, and organizing skills. The right candidate must be comfortable discussing and working in an environment that involves Black radical and self-determining politics, radical theory, and organizing culture. This work requires someone who is self-motivated and can ensure tasks are completed in a timely fashion and can be comfortable working with a diverse population of organizers and the larger Black community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Create and manage databases with important organizational information. Create training manuals/documents/videos on that can train others on its usage. Finding easy to use solutions for people with varying comfortability with database/management software.
    • Property management and pre-development, including but not limited to collecting rents, managing property, supporting and leading on property development task.
    • Membership orientation and development. Support the development and implementation of membership guidelines and orientation. Support the enhancement of an orientation manual helping in the recruit for new members.

    Qualifications 

      • A background in community organizing and the tradition of Black “radical and revolutionary politics” is preferred. Ability to work with others and have discussions (not arguments) on politics, structural racism, imperialism, etc.
      • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to successfully juggle multiple responsibilities.
      • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
      • Experience managing databases, excel spreadsheets, some budgeting.
      • Ability to create and maintain a schedule that will ensure task are completed in a timely fashion.

      Compensation

      This position is a full-time payroll position paying $50,000 a year and health benefits.
